NNPC Limited is the only entity licensed to operate in the country’s petroleum industry. It partners with foreign oil companies to exploit Nigeria’s fossil fuel resources.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Commercial Law /  Litigation Specialist

Location: Nigeria

Objectives

  • To ensure all NGML activities, processes, and procedures are in conformity with relevant legal standards and regulations.
  • To ensure NGML interests are adequately covered in any contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and ensure drafting of Gas Sale Agreements, Gas Sale and Purchase Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, and all other NGML commercial agreements.
  • Review all drafted Agreements to ensure that NGML interests are adequately covered.
  • Ensure efficient and effective Commercial Contracts Administration/Management.
  • Manage all litigations and contingent liabilities arising from NGML business activities.
  • Advise on the litigation risks of possible business decisions.
  • Provide preventive counseling with respect to legal risks associated with business practices and legal advice on litigation.
  • Manage alternative dispute resolution processes like Arbitration, mediation, conciliation, etc.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree qualification in Law. Barrister at Law (BL) qualification is a must. Call to the Bar is a must.
  • Master’s in Law or any other relevant post-graduate degree or professional qualification is an added advantage.

Competence

  • Mastery of Legal Case Handling & Analysis.
  • Negotiation, legal drafting, Arbitration, and Alternative Dispute Resolution skills.
  • Legal and solicitation skills.
  • Secretariat management skills.
  • Corporate Governance Skills.
  • Business Acumen.
  • People Management Skills.
  • Knowledge of the Oil and Gas Industry.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 9 years relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.

Age Limit:

  • 37 years.
