Job Title: Lead Counsel, Commercial Litigation
Locations: Nigeria
Objectives
- Handle management of disputes and cases of commercial nature through activities such as Pre-trial engagements, Drafting & Pleadings, Case Monitoring, Witness & Evidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Pre-trial engagements with relevant in-house stakeholders.
- Drafting of court processes such as pleadings, witness depositions, etc.
- Monitor progress of court cases involving NNPC.
- Monitor conduct and performance of external counsel representing NNPC in Court.
- Ensure identification of knowledgeable witnesses within NNPC to defend NNPC’s interest in Court.
- Ensure the assembly of adequate evidence for the defence of NNPC’s interest in legal actions.
Educational Qualifications
- A University Degree in Law; Barrister at Law (BL) qualification is a must
- Professional qualification and membership of relevant professional body is required e.g. NBA
Experience:
- Minimum of 9 years relevant post qualification experience.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.
Competence:
- Knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry regulations.
- Case management skills.
- Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution skills.
- Legal drafting skills.
- Legal case handling, analytics and advisory skills.
- Legislation interpretation skills.
- Oil and Gas industry Knowledge.
