We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Lead Counsel, Downstream Commercial Agreements
Location: Nigeria
Objectives
- Responsible for the development of the legal framework for drafting downstream contracts and disseminates this across the downstream and gas businesses.
- Reviews and approves contract agreements drafted by BU or drafts, negotiates and develops the contracts (depending on the value threshold).
- Provide on-going legal advice in downstream corporate matters, including the incorporation of companies, capital increases and reductions, corporate governance, company restructuring involving downstream.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate Commercial Agreements for downstream, Gas, Power and New Energy.
- Draft, review and negotiate Loan Agreements and Financial Agreements.
- Draft, review and negotiate Escrow Agreements (Downstream).
- Review of Oil and Gas Regulations and ensure that it’s effectively drafted and interpreted.
- Provide Legal Advisory Support.
- Provide legal representation in various Committees, Project Teams and Working Groups.
- Participate in Public Hearings.
- Examine and advise on legal implications of business decisions and transactions.
Educational Qualification
- A University Degree in Law; Barrister at Law (BL) qualification is a must
- Professional qualification and membership of relevant professional body is required e.g. NBA
Competence:
- Mastery of Oil and Gas industry regulations.
- Mastery of commercial Law.
- Mastery of legal drafting.
- Legal case handling, analytics and advisory skills.
- Legislation interpretation skills.
- Oil and Gas industry skills.
- Skilled in Presentation and Negotiation.
- Excellent Reporting Skills.
- Relationship Management skills.
Experience:
- Minimum of 9 years relevant post qualification experience.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.
Age Limit:
- 37 years
